John 5:1 - 14

Rise Up and Walk

In John 5:1 -14, Jesus is at the pool (Bethesda) where a multitude of sick people, blind, lame and paralyzed waited for their healing at the movement of the water in the pool.  Jesus sees the man who had been paralyzed for 38 years and asks him, "Do you want to be made well"?  After the man's excuses for why he wasn't well, Jesus tells him "Rise, take up your bed and walk".  In other words, take up your circumstance and walk.  What is Jesus commanding us to do that is impossible. Remember why John is writing this letter  -  John 20:31 - "but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name".

John 4:43 - 54

"Unless You People See Signs and Wonders, You Will By No Means Believe"

Jesus gave the nobleman His Word -  "Go your way, your son lives" - now it was up to the man to take His Word and be obedient.  The Word says the man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him and he went his way.
